Abstract:

In this presentation, I will present the application of corpus linguistics in investigating an corpus linguistically under-studied language, such as Vietnamese. I present the construction of two corpora of Vietnamese. More importantly, besides the traditional frequency, various types of statistic measures in corpus will be presented, e.g., dispersion, latent semantic analysis (LSA), hyperspace analogue to language (HAL). These measures function as bridging psycholinguistics to cognitive linguistics via corpus linguistics.
