This seminar is meant as an introduction to Grant Aiton as a new researcher in the ANU CoEDL node, and to the research topics he hopes to investigate during his time at ANU. During this seminar, you can get a sense of the theoretical, personal, and linguistic background of Grant as a researcher, as well as getting a sense of his research interests moving forward. He will primarily discuss his documentation plans for Eibela and Sonia, two languages spoken in the Bosavi region of Papua New Guinea, including the typological profiles and demographics of these languages. He will also introduce planned research projects aiming to investigate grammatical topics such as differential case marking, aspect marking in clause chaining, and phonetic correlates of lexical and phrasal stress.
