Seminar: Introduction to wrangling data with dplyr

Speaker: Elena Sheard (ANU)

When: 13 May 2022, 3pm-4.30pm AEST

Where: via zoom (email for zoom details)

This is an online introductory workshop to manipulating data using the dplyr package in R. It will be most beneficial to those who already have a working understanding of R and would like to improve their data manipulation skills. In this workshop, you will learn how to subset data frames using select() and filter(), how to create new columns using mutate(), unit() and separate(), and how to summarise data with group_by() and summarise(). We will also cover combining multiple datasets (e.g. combining a metadata spreadsheet with linguistic data) using the join functions, and integrating dplyr with ggplot2. Data will be provided, but it is expected that you will have already downloaded RRstudio and the tidyverse package prior to the workshop. If you have any specific questions that you would like the workshop to address, you are welcome to email me before the workshop at
