OzCLO team's achievements

Date: 3 August 2016

Great achievements of our two OzCLO Australian teams at the International Linguistics Olympiad (IOL) in Mysore, India. In fact these have been the best results for Australia ever:

  • Individual contest 1 Gold (Max Zhang-MG), 1 Silver (Henry Wu-BH), an honorable mention (Tom Ryan - MG) and winner of best solutions for a problem (Max Zhang - MG).
  • Team Contest, Australia was second (Sweden 1 and UK 3).

Australia was represented by our Gold winning team from Melbourne Grammar (Max Zhang, Tom Ryan, Martin Lee, Hamish Self) accompanied by a father: Michael Lee, and our Silver Winning Team from Baulkham Hill (Henry Wu, Al-Aabid Chowdhury, Luke Jarmain, Gamshagi Karunaivel) accompanied by their teachers Michael Salter and Vicki Milne.

The Centre would like to entend our appreciation to Dominique Estival, Caroline Jones, Jane Simpson, Verna Rieschild and Hedvig Skirgard as trainers last December, Elisabeth Mayer for overall organisation, as well as Baulkham Hill teachers Michael Salter and Vicki Milne, and Melbourne Grammar dad Michael Lee for their work and inspiration in training the teams.
