BATES ONLINE

Daisy Bates organised the collection of many Western Australian Indigenous vocabularies from the early 1900s onwards. For the first time, this collection is accessible and searchable online, the contents no longer confined to papers housed inside collecting institutions. The Bates Online Project presents 21,000 pages of vocabularies from this collection as images linked to some 4,000 pages of typescript.

Supported by the Faculty of Arts, University of Melbourne, the Australian Research Council, the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Dynamics of Language and the National Library of Australia.
