Janet Wiles interviewed on ABC Radio National
Ahead of her public lecture on Tuesday 9 February, Janet Wiles was interviewed by Michael McKenzie on the topic of Lingodroids.
Radio National: In the near future, robots will be delivering parcels and pizza, driving cars and working in aged care facilities.
But in order to do this, they need communicate with us. While robots can talk, they can't yet understand the language they use.
That's where Lingodroids come in. These social robots are involved in research projects where they are inventing words for places and times and linking the meanings to their own experiences.
