International Conference on Historical Linguistics (ICHL), ANU, July 2019

The 24th International Conference on Historical Linguistics will be held at the Australian National University in Canberra, Australia from July 1st-5th 2019.

We’re excited to welcome to ANU specialists in all areas of historical linguistics, including methods and practices of linguistic reconstruction, formal approaches to language change, historical sociolinguistics, and contact and areal linguistics, as well as on languages from across the world. ICHL24 will also highlight the languages and language families of our region, especially those of Australia, Mainland Southeast Asia and the New Guinea region, new advances in computational and phylogenetic approaches to historical linguistics, and new ways of placing historical linguistics within trans-disciplinary understandings of the human past.
